09/02/2008
IRNA -- Over 250,000 foreign tourists traveled to the Islamic Republic on eVisa (Electronic Visa) since the start of the current Iranian year on March 21.
Announcing this, caretaker of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization's Planning Bureau noted that the plan became operational at the end of last Iranian year.
"Those interested in visiting Iran should refer to the Internet website (www.electronicvisa.ir) or international airports nationwide to have their eVisa issued," Mohammad Reza Pouyandeh said.
"Given the extensive support provided by Foreign and Information Ministries and the other related state entities, the plan will facilitate the issuance of visas online," the official said.
Pouyandeh added the step will help promote tourism.
