Iran to hold Int'l Roudaki Confab

PressTV - Iran is slated to hold the International Roudaki Conference in an attempt to celebrate the Persian poet's 1150th birth anniversary.

International scholars and researchers will discuss Roudaki's life, works, artistic vision, and influence on the life of his contemporaries.

The event will cover topics such as Roudaki and Persian literature, aestheticism and art in Roudaki's poetry, Roudaki and comparative literature, and Philosophy and religion in Roudaki's works.

The International Roudaki Conference will be held by Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) on Oct. 13 and 14, 2008.

Roudaki, the first poet to compose poems in the 'New Persian' style, is considered the founder of classical Persian literature.

Earlier this year the United Nations held a ceremony marking the 1150th birth anniversary of the 8th century Iranian poet.
