CHN - An international seminar on Persian Gulf will be held at Durham University, UK, from Jun 30 to July 2.

Deputy head of research center of Iran Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) said that international archaeologists will study the latest excavation results and archaeological surveys on the Persian Gulf.

"Experts and archaeologists from Germany, UK, Italy, Japan and Islamic Republic will participate in the three-day event," Taha Hashemi said.

Given a report on the latest excavations on Persian Gulf in different historical periods has not yet been presented by the foreign researchers, he noted that the seminar will be held in this respect.

Distortion of the Persian Gulf name has triggered the anger of all Iranians worldwide.

Based on international documents and registration with the United Nations, the Persian Gulf is a name that cannot change at
international records and maps.

The Persian Gulf is the world s third biggest gulf, after Mexican and Hudson gulfs.

Many of Iranians living abroad protested against the illegal move through the internet, sending protest letters to international bodies and holding several protest demonstrations in many countries.

In Iran, Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel urged regional Arab states to avoid distorting history by trying to forge a name for the Persian Gulf.
