Hi
I was wondering if anyone out there knows how long it takes to get a iranian passport. The process began from July 2009 and I still don't know if the shenasnameh is done or not. But after the shenasnameh is done, how long does it take for me to get the passport? I'm iranian but born in Denmark. I have never been to Iran before and never had a iranian passport either. Another thing I was wondering about is, if I can just apply for a visa even if my parents are from Iran? I mean as I'm born in Denmark, couldn't I go to Iran just as a tourist? I appreciate all comments and answers. |

If you were born in Iran and you would like to apply for an Iranian passport, you will need your Iranian birth certificate to apply.

siri,
For the all people who born / living in out side of Iran, I have to say that if you are male & not spend the Iranian military services ( DONT TRY TO GO TO IRAN ) & for the female after taking the birth certificate or SHENASNAMEH could be apply for passport. But i suggesting you to do not * money & time to take the an Iranian passport, just go ahead through the your country citizenship and just taking the tourist visa & come to have a good time inside of Iran. believe in some thing better Be safe always |

I have some passport questions myself. I called the office in the course of 2 weeks. I think I might have spoken to several people. Strange enough each and every one of people answering the phone will either contradict other one or give you a new set of requirements to get a passport or shenasnameh. Reading instruction on back of these so called "FORMS" is more confusing.

Iranian passports are issued to nationals of Iran for the purpose of international travel. The passport serves as a proof of Iranian citizenship.
The Iranian passports are burgundy, with Iranian Coat of Arms emblazoned on the top of the front cover. The words (Persian) meaning (English: Islamic Republic of Iran) and (Persian) meaning (English: Passport) are inscribed below the coat of arms. On the inside of the back-cover, Iranian passports bear the inscription: "The holder of this passport is not entitled to travel to occupied Palestine", which refers to Israel. |

Hi,
I have an iranian friend, who lives in Slovakia ( permanent address ). He had also an iranian passport that expired but on top of that he lost this passport. Is there any way he can get a new passport and if yes how. What does he needs in order to get the new iranian passport? Can he also get it from Embassy in Vienna, as that is the closest Embassy to him. Every time going to London is a bit more difficult. Many thanks, Ivana |

I know that an Iranian citizen can enter Iran with an expired passport - because I just did. To exit, however, a new passport must be obtained. Without a passport all together, with Iranian birth certificate and national card the entry might be possible - but you should verify with an Iranian consulates - such as: requests@daftar.org.
Once in Iran, with an expired passport a new one can be obtained - as follows: In Tehran, go to: Bank Meli – at Vanak Square and pay: 500,000 Rials for Edareh Gozarnameh 50,000 Rials for Shardari 25,000 Rials for Edareh Pajoohesh va Toeseh Gardeshgari Police+10 – on Vali Asr Avenue north of Vanak Square fill out the application provide birth certificate, national card, the expired passport and 3 pictures pay another 70,000 Rials for Entezamat The passport will be mailed to you in one week. |

Hello, Shawn Ayromloo, thanks for your post. VERY helpful info. I am asking the following question for my Iranian friend who wants to visit Iran but her passport is expired. So, she has in her possession an expired Iranian passport and her original birth certificate (very old from Shah's time, with photo). She is also a US citizen with a US passport. Can she travel to Iran, cross through their immigration with her expired Iranian passport and renew it in Tehran when she's there. You said you just did it, but the Interests Section of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Washington DC informed her she needed to renew her birth cert and her passport before she can travel to Iran.
When you traveled with your expired passport, did you have with you the new (current) birth cert with photo ? Do you know if she can travel with the expired passport with the older version birth cert ? Thank you Shawn. |

But if she could get a passport I can take her to UK as I live here right now. Could you please guide me how can her apply for a passport. Is it possible for her to do with out the knowledge of her parents? Which is the best option for us to live together. I am asking this question because I don't know much rules in Iran
