Of course my friend... As u got married with somebody from ISLAMIC republic of iran, she should have mentioned you at first that you must change, convert to islam unless you have no other way to get any official document for you , her, and your kids,. Or, you can go there with ur kid with no mother name on any document as a turist and pray to nobody realize ur wife is iranian .. If, it happens u will go to jail and neither good or alah can help u there ... Anyway have u learn farsi to go there ?????

Hello Guest, You have not mentioned your nationality. But from your information, we understand that you are from Muslim religion and married to Iranian women (also being Muslim). So there will not be any issues for you to visit and get out of Iran 'n' number of times. But what my friend from Polish decentant may have meant is his religion (I assume may be Christian or Jew) and his wife's religion (Muslim from Iran) are different and they are married in english traditional way & living together in UK. Few things here to be noted is that which passport are they holding, ex: Polish, Iranian etc. Is the name in the passport of his iranian wife changed adding his name to her last name. Name of spouse /her father's name is mentioned in her passport? I dont know whether I am correct or not, respect the law of that country and do accordingly. Check directly with the Iranian embassy in UK, what formalities you need to complete. Iranians are warm and welcoming...so I hope that you will get your queries cleared (Aleksandra Konwa). Regards, Mani. |

All these threads remind me of the movie "Not Without My Daughter". The civil rights violations in Iran are unbelievable. And the intolerance is sickening. From what I can tell Iran is a beautiful country with a rich wonderful history in many regards. Too bad such an extreme religious dictatorial theocratic regime is in place at this moment. May the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Moses, and God's only begotten Son, Christ Jesus, have mercy on us all and especially on this part of the world.

OMG.................the almost exact same problems I have faced 2 years ago when we try to get an Iranian Visa. I and my Iranian Husband were not married at the time, so we were told to get married the Islamic way and have to be married in the Iranian Mosque and obtain the Islamic marriage cert and the cert to prove than I am Muslim before they will even consider to issue me the visa. I also have a daughter from a previous relationship; the staffs from the embassy insist that my daughter's biological father has to give consent to allow my daughter to visit Iran. As we have no contact with him for like 10 years, it was proven difficult. Anyhow, We pushed ahead with the visa without her "father's consent" after 3 months of begging and humiliation, they have finally agree to give her the visa. Their last word to my husband was “I don’t know why you want to take that kid with you!” In general Iran was friendly but the one that we encountered in the embassy was just unbelievable….. Anyway, I hope they won’t be too hard on you. Good Luck! |

Hello everyone! can somebody help me with that? Im dating an iranian guy and he keeps lying me a lot about a lot of things. I found out that he got two different names , one "english" name in the british passport and one "persian" name in the iranian passport. He told me that he cant have a foreigner name in Iran, thats why he keeps his persian name in that passport.
can anybody tell me if that is true? Thanks! |

If you believe that he is lying to you, the best way is to abandon him.
Usually Iranian names are hard to be pronounced for foreigners so some Iranians prefer to have a simple name. For example Jahan will be John outside Iran. If you give us his name, maybe we can tell you if there is a restriction for that special name or not! |

but in Iran can you have a foreigner name or is always forbidden?? or normally can you call yourself for example John Thomas if your father is English and you want to live in Iran?

In Iran the official name of someone (i.e. formal identity document) cannot be John Thomas.

Hi there, regarding foreigner name in iranian passport , its totally allow.
I am speaking of personal experience here, I am a Chinese lady and obtain my iranian passport through marriage to my iranian husband. The passport office in Tehran has put my Chinese Name (obviously in Iranian wrtiiting) in my Iranian passport without even a blink . Other than that , I have a Iranian friend and her name is Mona, I was suprised to hear that an iranian girl from Iran has a "foreigner "name but she said its quite cool and there is no trouble at all. As for the boy friend has different name on the british passport, I know of many iranian when they apply for asylum in UK , they tends to change their name due to immigration resaon, perhaps that is why he has 2 different name. P.S. i was living in UK long time so I kind of understand how they should i say "play " the system. |

hi there,
I'm a French citizen an a fervent Christian and I'm married to an Muslim Iranian. in order to get an Iranian passport I need to be married in a Muslim way but for me it will be a transgression of my faith if I do that. So the question is, is there any other way for me to obtain an Iranian passport. Please if you know tell me. Thanks |

No. If you are a "fervent Christian" then your husband should have converted to Christianity before you got married. Iran does not recognize people converting from Islam. |
