Visiting Iran
Hello,

my friend and I are planning on travelling and we wanted to spend some time in Iran. I was raised in Egypt, and I understand the culture requires modesty, but as my friend is male, and I am female, I wasnt sure how we would be received in the country and if it would be easy to find hotel rooms, etc. I was hoping someone would be able to council me on this.

Furthermore, if my friend decides not to come along, is it safe to travel as a woman alone? How about hiring a tour guide (which I understand are mostly male)?

thanks
Hello,

This is Sara from Orient Star Tour Operator based in Tehran-Iran.
There is restriction for having male or female roommate in hotels for our tourists, we have a lot of couples, friends, and young people are traveling in a group, and for sure there is no problem for them.
These people always claim that, Iran is even safer than their country. They can have a pleasure experience of wonderful culture, fascinating agrological sight and also ancient history.
We have even many single woman travels, during this month; I have 7-8 individual groups, who were single woman travelers from different countries, such as: US, Italy, France, and Germany.
As per their request, they also can be provided with a professional woman guide, which we have a lot and can use them.
Hope the above information had been handy; do not hesitate to contact me for any further information.
Look forward to hear you again,
Kind regards,
Sara

Hi
what I only is that yes, there is restriction for having male or female roommate in hotels for the tourists.
Iran, land of civilization and friendship. Are you * kidding me? You're the exact opposite. Bombing you back to the stone age wouldn't take much because you're already still living in the stone age. Let go of that American journalist you backwards * .
To Frank talk: You need to base your opinions on more then media propaganda. I am an American woman and I am glad that Iranian-American Journalist is in prison. I hear a lot about "rights" and "freedom" but I have seen these rights and freedom to be one-sided. How about my rights?

I have the right to want to live in a society that cherishes and protects its women. I have the right to live somewhere where women are not looked at like slabs of meat for salivating lewd guys and I have at least 3 jerks coming to my door salivating each day here where I live. I DO NOT WANT THIS.

I cover from my head --hijab-- to my feet..completely but I live in a highly sexual and gross environment where genders are unnaturally crossed over and I DONT LIKE IT. If this Iranian-American Journalist does not like the way women are treated in Iran she could GET OUT, like I am. She did in fact, and then decided she would try to make Iran like it is here. I hope she has fun in prison where she belongs at least she won't have to get urinated on like the prisoners in Guantanimo.

Where are the rights of people like me that want to live in a NON-LEWD society? I would not even consider having kids here because to me my daughters would grow up being sexual targets for disgusting lewd men and my sons would learn lewdness. I HAVE RIGHTS TOO.
To the Woman who is a spoke frankly:

I applaud you. Thank you for standing up and delivering the truth.
There was a question that was previously asked but not answered... if i as an american tourist visit Iran do i need to cover up from head to toe? smile:?:
I think this is not good idea going to Iran right now. First you need to have a visa, and your passport picture need to look like you are muslim, covering your hair.
It is nice country but this crazy politic they have, is not safe there.
Women have any rights there, I'm just surprised they all protesting on the streets and I like it, specially women's.

Friends,

I ‘m working in travel and tourism industry in Tehran – Iran more than five years, although I’m only 25 years old. I think I have enough experiences to answer all these questions.
1. I can assure you all, that there is no restriction for male and female couples want to stay in same room! I had lots of your clients, they all were friend and fortunately, didn’t experience any problem.
2. In reply to our friend with frank talk nick name : I should say, you’d better to have a little study on the history and specially history of Iran!, not only rely on what you will see and hear in propaganda news all over the world, all the governments and countries may have some problem, but it’s not the exact thought of their people and whole society! Are you agree with the torture happened in Guantanamo! So you will see there are things people of a country cannot do anything about it expect objections, but be aware some peoples have the right of speech freedom in their country, it will not prove that they have same idea or people of stone age!
3. People who travel to Iran should cover their hair with scarf or anything like that, but they don’t have to were clothes like Arabs!! as long as you cover your hair, and cover your body with a pans and a long blouse (knee long blouse are enough)! Unfortunately I cannot post pictures here to show you some picture of our nice tourists that they changed their mind about Iran after seeing that !
4. Of course you need to get a visa to enter the country, and for US, Canadian & British citizens takes 20-25 days to get the visa, but it’s not necessary to have a Muslim like(covered one) picture on your passport! I’m shocked where have you gathered this information from???????? Of course it was not safe to travel to Iran during protest, but now everything is finished and its totally safe! Its shows that we are not belong to stone age, as long as I know, in stone age, there were so socialized people like Iranians, that want to get their right by silence protest, far away of any violence!

Hope I was able to answer to all the ambiguities , and please accept your little friend advise, don’t accept and convey anything without research by the time you yourself are assure of it!

Sara, you need to leave Iran, it's dangerous for ALL WOMEN!
the last post addressing sara is nonsense!
it is not nonsense it is absolutely true.
Hello friend,
According to me you are taking a risk to go to IRAN right now. As you know IRAN is a MUSLIM country and there culture never allows to stay a girl with a boy before marriage. It is too risky to go alone,as you are female. So,plz try to change your mind setup and think about some other place to visit where you and your male friend can spend time with each other without any fear.
I hope my suggesstion will madeyou to think.

With Regards,
Shiffer Smith

Looking for the best Villa click : Luxury Villa Holidays and Luxury Villa Holidays With Flights .
So is it true for Kish Island that the beaches are separate for men and women? Going there soon.
If you are so worried, why do you want to visit this country? I consider that with your question you are not asking but affirming, and you are clearly showing the typical American discrimination and hate towards other nations.

Good luck and best regards.
