Hello,
my friend and I are planning on travelling and we wanted to spend some time in Iran. I was raised in Egypt, and I understand the culture requires modesty, but as my friend is male, and I am female, I wasnt sure how we would be received in the country and if it would be easy to find hotel rooms, etc. I was hoping someone would be able to council me on this. Furthermore, if my friend decides not to come along, is it safe to travel as a woman alone? How about hiring a tour guide (which I understand are mostly male)? thanks |

Hello,
This is Sara from Orient Star Tour Operator based in Tehran-Iran. There is restriction for having male or female roommate in hotels for our tourists, we have a lot of couples, friends, and young people are traveling in a group, and for sure there is no problem for them. These people always claim that, Iran is even safer than their country. They can have a pleasure experience of wonderful culture, fascinating agrological sight and also ancient history. We have even many single woman travels, during this month; I have 7-8 individual groups, who were single woman travelers from different countries, such as: US, Italy, France, and Germany. As per their request, they also can be provided with a professional woman guide, which we have a lot and can use them. Hope the above information had been handy; do not hesitate to contact me for any further information. Look forward to hear you again, Kind regards, Sara ------------------------------------------------------------------ Sara Mohammadi Orient Star Tour Operator No. 8, Corner 2nd Alley, Gandi St., Tehran - Iran Phone: +98 21 88 88 50 94 Fax: +98 21 88 78 60 47 GSM: +98 912 60 22 869 E-mail: sara@orientstartour.com Website: www.orientstartour.com |

Iran, land of civilization and friendship. Are you * kidding me? You're the exact opposite. Bombing you back to the stone age wouldn't take much because you're already still living in the stone age. Let go of that American journalist you backwards * .

To Frank talk: You need to base your opinions on more then media propaganda. I am an American woman and I am glad that Iranian-American Journalist is in prison. I hear a lot about "rights" and "freedom" but I have seen these rights and freedom to be one-sided. How about my rights?
I have the right to want to live in a society that cherishes and protects its women. I have the right to live somewhere where women are not looked at like slabs of meat for salivating lewd guys and I have at least 3 jerks coming to my door salivating each day here where I live. I DO NOT WANT THIS. I cover from my head --hijab-- to my feet..completely but I live in a highly sexual and gross environment where genders are unnaturally crossed over and I DONT LIKE IT. If this Iranian-American Journalist does not like the way women are treated in Iran she could GET OUT, like I am. She did in fact, and then decided she would try to make Iran like it is here. I hope she has fun in prison where she belongs at least she won't have to get urinated on like the prisoners in Guantanimo. Where are the rights of people like me that want to live in a NON-LEWD society? I would not even consider having kids here because to me my daughters would grow up being sexual targets for disgusting lewd men and my sons would learn lewdness. I HAVE RIGHTS TOO. |

I think this is not good idea going to Iran right now. First you need to have a visa, and your passport picture need to look like you are muslim, covering your hair.
It is nice country but this crazy politic they have, is not safe there. Women have any rights there, I'm just surprised they all protesting on the streets and I like it, specially women's. __________ Cheap airfare |
