1- Nationals of most countries can get seven day Iran visa in airport at the time of arrival. (getting an Iranian visa for American takes 25 days to 2months)

To obtain a one-week tourist visa upon arrival, visit this website:

electronicvisa.ir

also some useful information can be found here (such as Visa fees, Visa types,...):

Iran Visa

2- If a boy is traveling with his girl friend or his fiance, there is no restriction to stay together in one room during their stay. Iranian boys and girls don't have such opportunity!

3- Some of the tourist think that while being in Iran they have to wear long dresses cover their face,... but it is not so, you can wear jeans and T-shirt. Women should cover their hair by Scarf or Shella.

4- Women are completely safe in Iran. So they can travel alone. Of course they should consider somethings like other countries for example to avoid walking alone at a dark street on 11PM which is true for all countries.

5- Travel to Iran through a travel agency.

Irpedia,

I think it will be most successful to bring all these in the form of an FAQ page not a forum post.

I found this link on the electronicvisa.ir site that Irpedia recommended:

http://evisa.mfa.gov.ir:7780/mfa/Controller

What is this for? Can I apply for a visa this way instead of filling out the paper forms?

Also, I am an American citizen. What is the likelihood that I can have friends in Iran sponsor me in order to be able to travel to Iran that way? I am not of Iranian origin.

Hi to everyone

While I am now in the process of getting our visas for Iran next month, I found this information about a new 15 DAYS TOURIST VISA at airport:
http://www.payvand.com/news/06/apr/1123.html

This information is also shown in some local tour operators' websites, but not in all of them, what leads to confussion.

Could you kindly confirm if it is correct? This possibility would save us a lot of time..

Thanks a lot Smile

Dear Elena,

Yeah it is correct. But still there is probability of not receiving your visa at the airport at arrival. The best way is to get a reference number from our ministry of foreign affair that takes for Spaniard nationalities around 7 working days. After issuing a APPROVAL REFERENCE NUMBER, it will be faxed to the nearest embassy or consulate of Iran (in your case it can be Madrid) and you can go to collect it.

Around 3 working days will be taken for you to get your visa. So, count on maximum 10 days for getting your Iran visa. For applying to get an approval reference number from our ministry of foreign affairs you can get in touch to us. The only document we need is a copy of your passport. That's it.

Thanks Moderator

but that link doesn't make any reference to the 15 days visa at airport, which is also mentioned in the link below below:http://www.irantravelingcenter.com/visa_iran.htm#Iran_Airport_Visa

Does it mean they, I mean this tour operator and and the news of previous post's link, are giving a wrong information?

Thanks for clarifying.
