Dear Dr. Adamiyat
Thanks indeed for your extended response..I am glad to see that information is correct. I also read they are obliged by law to refund your travell expense if for any reason decline your visa upon arrival. Anyway, I am taking your advise into account and will fulfull the e-visa form at the Foreign Affairs Ministry. The problem I see with this is that I live some 5hours from Madrid and, unless they can send them us by pre-paid post (by us), would be very uncomfortable. I read one woman's post who had gone through the Iran FAM e-application form and after being accepted and given a reference, she was supposed to pick up the visa at the Khomeini airport upon arrival. Can this be possible? Thanks again Elena |

Dear Elena,
Yes this is possible. Here is E-Visa application address of our Ministry of Foreign Affairs: http://www.mfa.gov.ir/cms/cms/Tehran/en/evisa/ Please let me know if you faced to any problem. To have a final re-confirmation, not bad to send me a copy of your filled application form alongside with your reference number and copy of your passport. So I can check with MFA if your folder is in process (this is a free of charge service of ITF). You may reach us directly through president@itfinternational.com Also please feel free to consult us for the selecting itinerary and service providers within Iran. So, we can check it and report you back if anything should be more cleared. Thanks and regards, Dr. Farhang Adamiyat President ITF International Tourism Facilities Tehran |

OK,
I am in the process of applying for a visa to visit Iran. A word / words of warning. I (1) looked at the Iranian MFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) website, (2) called the NZ (I'm a New Zealand citizen) embassy in Iran, and (3) called the Iranian Embassy here (well, there) in Bangkok (4) searched virtualtourist.com (5) looked at iranvisa.com - or something similiar They effectively all said that I could get a 14 day visa on arrival if I arrived at the appropriate airport. They were ALL INCORRECT. Note. incorrect. A consulate officer at the NZ embassy in Iran, and the staff members I talked to in person at the Iranian embassy in Bangkok (correctly) put me right: that I would be deported. "Don't do it !! ". So, I am lounging for another fortnight in Thailand while my visa is hopefully approved. Having made the mistake that many of you reading this thread are about to make, I would recommend that you ONLY do the following : (1) call the Iranian embassy or consulate in your own country. Speak to a senior, or experienced official. AND (2) call you country's embassy in Iran. Likewise talk to a senior official. If,and only if, the information from both of these sources match should you act on it. Absolutely IGNORE the information on sites such as iranvisa.com. There is a constant and significant stream of (I only know about kiwis and aussies) tourists arriving at IKA and being deported According to my now increased education on this matter, the situation regarding access to Iran has changed many times in the last few years, and if the corporate media continue their current attention seeking, will change in the future. Maybe for the next five years (?) . experienced staff at embassies (and possibly tour companies, such as Dr Adamiyat - I don't know) are the only sources of infomation you should rely on. I made the mistake and am paying the cost; more than my ticket stephen |
