2 girls backpacking in Iran
Hello!
We are two 22 year old Swedish women thinking about backpacking in Iran for some weeks. Now we've heard so many warnings, if we just mention this idea to people and I wonder: Is it a very stupid idea, or is it just as safe for 2 traveling women as any other country should be?

Kind regards/Malin
Hej Malin,

As a Westerner of your same age who visited Iran exactly one year ago I can tell you traveling to Iran is never a stupid idea, but on the very opposite.

If you and your friend have no problems in respecting the culture of the Iranian society - which really just imply to guard modesty - I cant imagine you having any problems. Ive stumbled upon other European women who have traveled to Iran lately, either alone or in small groups, and I hear nothing but excellent comments from them.

If you have the possibility of going to Iran my strong suggestion is that you dont throw it away!

Kind regards from Chile,
Germán
Malin,
hi milan
im an iranian man and i know my country well.i sugest u travel to iran because iran has so many things to c.and also cost of travelling is low when compare it whit so many country.but since u want to travel backpacking u shoud consider somethings1-dont camp in places far from cities -suberb of cities and places with no people there.2-u should note that iran has some restriction about wearing of women so u should wear some suitable clothes 3-in main city center of all big cities there are some dirty people like another countries -u should avoid them

hello

i am an american citizen , but ethnically indian (i also carry a indian permanent residency permit) , i have always been deeply influenced by the persian culture and literature and having grown up in india most of my life i have no reservations about going to iran .... i just want to know whether it is possible for me to get an iranian visa or not without having to go through immense bureaucratic jungles

also a hat tip iran is going a be part of my 5 weeks itnerary that might include damascus, amman, aquaba, cairo, jerusalem and telaviv ... so i want to know how to traverse this, if it possible at all in the first place

btw i am going to be applying for all the visas necessary at new delhi as i am in india at present and also i plan this trip as a backpacking trip , so no hi-fi tour companies for me . i would love get some advice on how to go about this

thanks
vash
